 Personal Therapy for Counselors

Sometimes we need more than supervision or consultation. I believe counseling for counselors is key to our own personal and professional development. We are human first and foremost, and many of us are highly sensitive and/or empathic. We deal with our own share of the typical ups and downs everyone faces, but they may affect us more.

Many of us became counselors out of our own experiences and desires to help others. As we help others, we may find we take on more and more of our clients’ pain and suffer from compassion fatigue. We may also find ourselves dealing with life changes or difficulties that challenge our ability to cope (it can happen to us too!). Maybe our own emotional wounds are being triggered and sorely need attention. We know what to do, but still, need someone to hold the space for us too.

We all know, as the tool of our trade, we must routinely take good care of ourselves so we may continue to care for our clients but where can counselors go for good counseling? If you believe you would greatly benefit from having a safe, caring place to be heard by someone who deeply understands the unique needs of counselors, I’m available for distance counseling sessions and in-person intensives.

My Style

I believe we are wounded in a relationship and therefore heal best in a relationship. We basically need a ‘do over’ in a caring space where we can feel safe and nurtured so we can unpack our hurt and reconnect with all aspects of ourselves.

As we allow ourselves to experience unconditional acceptance, we tend to rediscover our authentic selves and become more congruent. We start reclaiming our birthright of lovability and worthiness, becoming better, stronger, kinder, and wiser than we believed possible.

As we come to understand we are worthy just as we are, we begin to live from our true selves, allowing room for more positive perspectives. Our expectations and what we are willing to accept changes. Our choices and behaviors become healthier.

Healing is a choice we often do not realize we have. You have this choice! I am here to help you find your way out of depression, anxiety, and hopelessness and move into a fuller, more satisfying, and balanced lifestyle.
